Let's Do It LIVE!

Sound design can be hard. Especially if you do it with no timeline, no layers, no undo, and only two hands, live in front of hundreds of people.

That’s exactly what Kristin Bolstad does, as you can see in our new film.

She performs live sound effects for silent films using objects and instruments she has collected over the years. It takes instinct, precision, and serious talent.

Kristin also recorded a vintage cartoon sound pack for us, using her unique collection of instruments and objects.

Watch the film to see how she works, and read more about the new Cartoon Foley sound pack below.

Enter the pack’s hashtag in Soundly’s search to find all sounds. In newer Soundly versions, you can also click the package to open it directly.

Classic cartoon props performed by silent film foley artist Kristin Bolstad. Raindrums, silly flutes, rubber pigs, duck calls, classic cartoon sproioioings, honks, and more. Each sound has been recorded at 192 kHz, because you never know when you’ll need a high-fidelity rubber duck squeaking. #cartoonfoley
