Sound Preservation: Soundly's Ongoing Efforts

We are passionate about preserving the natural world’s beautiful sounds. Teaming up with Sounding Wild, we support the Sounds Across Continents project. We also back the Regional Birds Crowdsource Project, a global effort to create an open-access archive of bird calls.

Sounding Wild uses advanced recording techniques to bring bird migrations to life. Each soundscape offers a glimpse into birds’ environments, highlighting the need to protect these ecosystems. Axel Drioli, an acclaimed field recording expert known for his immersive nature soundscapes, will soon start on the second leg of the African expedition, continuing his journey to capture even more migration soundscapes.

The Regional Birds Crowdsource Project, launched by FieldRecordingSlack, unites sound designers, field recordists, and nature enthusiasts to build an open-access archive of bird calls worldwide. It showcases bird life richness and serves as a resource for nature, sound, and conservation enthusiasts.

With environmental pressures rising, Soundly focuses on capturing and archiving endangered species’ voices. Our work in acoustic ecology documents these sounds, creating valuable resources for researchers, educators, and conservationists. Even if species disappear, their calls will remain as a reminder of what we risk losing.

We believe sound connects people to the environment uniquely. By supporting projects like Sounds Across Continents and the Regional Birds Crowdsource Project, we blend technology with conservation.
